Senior Vice President – Hand Benefits & Trust, a BPAS Company (HB&T)

At BPAS our team leaders play a crucial role in shaping the present and future of our company. But beyond their titles and official bios, we wanted to share a little bit more about these extraordinary individuals. Rather than write a simple profile, we wanted to have each one tell us who they are in their own words. So, we sent them a series of questions about their work and their backgrounds, and we asked them to answer their favorites.

Every so often we’ll post their answers and let you learn a little more than you might expect about our team leaders.

1. How would you describe your leadership position and the key role you play with BPAS?

I am responsible for compliance and the day to day operations of the trust and custody services we provide our retirement plan clients. In addition, I lead efforts for implementing our new collective investment fund offerings and daily fund valuation operations.

2. What experiences lead you to become a BPAS Team Leader?

Having been with the company for 19-plus years, I have had the opportunity to develop and be part of the growth of our collective investment fund product line. My commercial bank audit and compliance background assisted in the development of strong controls and procedures that are in place today.

3. How do you feel the culture of BPAS is different from other companies where you’ve held a leadership position?

HB&T has always been a culture of job ownership and teamwork. The addition of BPAS in 2007 only further amplified the idea that success is a team accomplishment.

4. What is something people don’t know about you?

My husband, Bill, and I love to travel – by car or plane, we’re not picky. Since we’re still finding spots here in Texas to explore, by car seems to be the most used lately.

We have four children: a daughter north of Toronto, Ontario with our 3-year old granddaughter; two sons in Austin, Texas; and a daughter here in Houston. Spending time with family is a big priority for us which is why I love working for HB&T/BPAS. Work/life balance is so important to be able to grow a company of excellent employees who feel that devotion goes both ways – to and from the company in which you work.
