1. How long have you worked with BPAS?

My career in the retirement plan field began in 1984 after graduating from college.  Interestingly enough, my degree is in Education with a minor in English but after teaching social studies to sixth graders for a year, I realized that the field was not for me.  So, I went to work for a small regional consulting firm and found my career – or it found me!  I was employed by the same firm until 2009 when we were acquired by BPAS.  So, officially, I have worked for BPAS for five years but because I am in the same location with the essentially same staff, it feels as if I have worked for BPAS since 1985.

2. What is the most enjoyable part of your job?

Hands down – the part of my job that I enjoy most is interacting with people.  We have an incredible client base, great Financial Intermediary Partners and outstanding employees and it is honestly a joy to work with them every day.  Whether we are working together to solve a problem, design a plan or just working through every day issues, I have the pleasure of working with smart, dedicated and interesting people.

3. What are you looking forward to the most at the Partners Conference?

In my position, I oversee the Consulting, Conversion and Document Teams within BPAS.  So, while I have had the opportunity to visit each of our offices, I have not had the pleasure of meeting many of our Financial Partners face-to-face.  I am looking forward to meeting them and putting a face to the voice.  On a personal level, my daughter graduates from high school on the first night of the conference so I will be attending the graduation ceremony and then driving to Washington and I am looking forward to just relaxing and enjoying some good company, good food and great information.

4. What is the thing we should get from your talk at the Partner’s Conference?

I am speaking at two sessions – Challenges for DC Plan Sponsors and Exploring Special Plan Types.  For the first session, I am hopeful that the attendees will get some helpful tips for developing effective retirement programs and differentiating themselves and BPAS from other providers.  For my second session, I am teaming up with our Director of VEBA Sales, Dave Ritchie.  During that session, we hope to introduce attendees to innovative plan types and designs geared toward assisting our mutual clients in developing comprehensive retirement benefit programs.
